More Details of Special Summer Edition Announced

A very special edition of the UK’s most popular 10k will be heading to the capital on Sunday 5th September, and we are delighted to announced further details of the Cancer Research UK London Summer Run 2021.

We’ve secured exclusive use of a spectacular route through the heart of London. So no vehicles, no stopping at lights, it’s a rare opportunity to run through one of the world’s most famous locations traffic free.

Everybody who signs up will be issued a numbered bib, complete with chip timing technology that will automatically be triggered when you cross the start and finish line, giving you an accurate time for your 10,000 metre challenge sent directly to your phone.

Everybody who crosses the finish line will be issued with a top quality medal as a reward for their achievements. Many of our regular runners are medal connoisseurs, so we are planning something rather splendid and appropriately bright for this summer special edition. PLUS those who choose the Cancer Research UK fundraiser option will also receive a limited edition extra medal. We’re excited to share both of these with you soon!

Previous runners will know all of the above is all part of the high quality annual experience, so let’s delve into a few new areas for summer 2021…

Flamingo Flamboyance Frenzy!

Some larger than life flamingos will be invading the Strand, bringing a carnival atmosphere to the route. This outlandishly pink section of the course will be impossible to miss, giving all our runners a boost both times they pass it on their challenge.

Penguin Beach Party

Our penguins are consistently voted as a favourite by our runners every year, so they are packing their bags and joining us for a special summer holiday party. It’s going to be the craziest beach party the capital has ever seen, with full-on summer classic tunes blasting out, and plenty of penguins lining the streets to cheer you on.

Paradise Island

The centre of the action on event day, Paradise Island transforms a section of the capital into a tropical utopia. As things are heating up on the course, this is the perfect area to chill out, enjoy a cold drink, and listen to live music. Safe in the knowledge that our Summer Run lifeguards will be on hand to deal with any mischievous wintery characters trying to muscle in on the action!

There is plenty more news to come, including details of the many live music acts that will be playing throughout the day, plus more fun before, during and after your 10k.

You can register to run in the Cancer Research UK London Summer Run from 10am on Monday 19th April. Capacity is going to be restricted, so only a limited number of Early Entries will be released at this point.

We’d love for you to join us and help make this the most enjoyable and memorable 10k run the UK has ever seen!
